Mid- Shore Council on Family Violence Memorial Service
For the past several years, MSCFV has partnered with Washington College's Office on Student Affairs, Alpha Chi Omega Sorority and students from the Victimology Class to provide a Memorial Service on campus during "Domestic Violence Awareness Month" in October. The service is held to remember those in the mid-shore region who have lost their lives to domestic violence and to support those who work with domestic violence victims. Most importantly the Memorial Service raises awareness about domestic violence and educates victims that there is help available.
In 2010, Mr. Butch Slaughter, author and national speaker, spoke about his personal experience with domestic violence as a child who witnessed his mother being killed by his father. MSCFV staff and interns are working on the 2011 Memorial Service which will be held on the campus of Washington College on October 26, 2011 at 4:00 p.m.
