What We Do

Mid-Shore Council on Family Violence seeks to create healthy opportunities by breaking the cycle of domestic violence through intervention and prevention by providing shelter, counseling, services and advocacy for victims and abusers; and by changing society’s attitudes and systems which permit and promote such violence against women, men and children. 

 

Services offered:
24-hour Hotline (1-800-927-4673)
This 24-hours hotline provides emergency counseling and referrals for individuals in need. It is confidential and available 7 days a week.
 
Crisis Intervention
When a domestic violence victim is in crisis, MSCFV’s trained advocates are available to assist by meeting the client in the hospital and/or at the police station. During this time he objective is to ensure the victim safety and emotional wellbeing.
 
Counseling and Support
Individual counseling sessions and support groups.
 
Shelter
An undisclosed and highly secure shelter is available with comfortable accommodations for victims and their children. This 24 hour services allows victims to leave their unhealthy, abusive environment.
 
Education and Training
Domestic Violence Speakers Bureau provides community education
and professional training to local groups and organizations.
 
Transitional Program
Transitional assistance for victims of domestic violence and
transitional housing.
 
Legal Program
Assistance through legal proceedings and court appearances,
information and referrals, grant programs for direct legal
representation in final protective order hearings and divorce and
custody cases.
 
Abuser Intervention Program
Counseling services and groups designed for individuals who
display abusive behavior to understand how to maintain a healthy relationship with themselves and others.
 
Law Enforcement Program
Provides training, technical assistance and information to law
enforcement agencies. Coordinator serves as a liaison between
MSCFV and law enforcement departments.
 
Bi-lingual Outreach Services
Outreach and assistance for Spanish-speaking and immigrant
victims.
 
Information and Referrals
Assistance in seeking aid from appropriate agencies.
Mid-Shore Council on Family Violence aims at providing assistance to those who seek aid from our partner agencies.
