ADDITIONAL INITIATIVES

EQUIPMENT

Kodak Easy Share cameras were purchased and distributed to all local law enforcement agencies in the mid-shore during the month of July. The Caroline County Sheriff's Department received funds for video equipment and the Greensboro Police Department received voice activated recording equipment. These agencies already had digital photography equipment. The evidence protocol for digital photography used by the FBI was also distributed to all agencies.

OTHER PROJECTS

The Law Enforcement Coordinator is the Vice-Chairperson of the Queen Anne's County Fatality Review Team and represents MSCFV. Fatality Review Teams will be developed during 2007 in each of the other mid-shore counties.

The primary purpose of domestic violence fatality review is to review deaths and near-fatalities in which intimate partner domestic violence has played a role, in a manner that makes real the victim's lived experience, with the ultimate intent of preventing such deaths and near fatalities.

The review process is aimed at creating a climate in which institutions and individuals will commit themselves to an enhanced response to domestic violence as a social problem and a crime, informed by the experiences of victims and survivors.

Eleven law enforcement agencies in the mid-shore currently participate in the Lethality Assessment Project. It is the goal of the Law Enforcement Coordinator to have all law enforcement agencies involved by the end of 2007.
