MID-SHORE COUNCIL OF FAMILY VIOLENCE TO HOST ANNUAL DINNER AND COMMUNITY AWARDS PROGRAM

Mid-Shore Council on Family Violence (MSCFV) will hold its Annual Dinner and Community Awards Program on June 29, 2007 at the Chester River Yacht and Country Club located in Chestertown, MD. The event begins with a social at 6:00 p.m., followed by a seated dinner at 7:00 p.m. The cost for the dinner is $50.00 and reservations are now being accepted. Each year, MSCFV recognizes individuals and organizations which have assisted the agency and its clients with a Community Award. 2007 Award recipients are as follows: Elena MacLeod for her work on the agency Web Page; James Maffitt, Esq. from Miles and Stockbridge for their pro bono work on behalf of MSCFV; Honorable Sidney Campen, Jr., for his fair and judicious treatments of clients and staff; Karin Anderson Ponzer, Esq. for her support of MSCFV's Bilingual Program; Cambridge Police Department for their outstanding response to domestic violence incidents; Bob Campbell from Campbell's Driving School for his assistance with helping a client learn to drive and obtain a vehicle; Leslie Adelman and Lois Colaprete from Mothers and More for supporting the shelter with donations and Maria Andujar for her work in the Hispanic/Latino community and support of MSCFV's Bilingual Program.

MSCFV is a non-profit organization, which provides a wide range of services for victims and perpetrators of family violence. It operates a shelter which provides emergency housing, 24-hour hotline, provides emotional support, advocacy, support groups, crisis counseling, and accompaniment to court proceedings, legal representation, crisis response to hospitals, information and referrals, Abuser Intervention Program, and programs for children. MID-SHORE COUNCIL ON FAMILY VIOLENCE (MSCFV) RECEIVES CITATION FROM GOVERNOR EHRLICH

Mid-Shore Council on Family Violence (MSCFV), representatives received a Citation from Governor Ehrlich recognizing the outstanding efforts of MSCFV on behalf of families in the mid-shore region. The Citation was presented at an event sponsored by Salisbury University on August 16, 2006.

The Citation stated that it was being given to MSCFV, "In honor of your dedicated services as a progressive non-profit Victim Services Provider in the 5 counties on Maryland's Eastern Shore - Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne's and Talbot, working in tandom with multi-disciplinary group planning efforts to improve the safety and well-being of abused women through intervention and prevention in the communities; and as an expression of our admiration and gratitude for your passion and unwavering dedication to public service."

MSCFV is a regional domestic violence program providing crisis and transitional services for victims of domestic violence in Kent, Caroline, Talbot Dorchester and Queen Anne's Counties. Services include shelter, 24 hour hotline, crisis response, legal advocacy, direct legal representation in final protective orders and divorce and custody cases, support groups, Abuser Intervention Program and public awareness programs. All services are provided in Spanish through its Bilingual Program.

BOUNTIFUL PROVIDES MAKE OVER SERVICES

Bountiful Provides Make Over Services to Mid-Shore Council on Family Violence Counseling Room. Bountiful Casual Elegance, a home furnishing and interior design business located in Talbot Town in Easton, donated their expertise, new furniture and manpower to completely renovate a counseling room at MSCFV.

MSCFV's counseling room provides a private location in which advocates can meet one on one with clients to provide educational and counseling sessions.
