HISTORY
In January of 2005 MSCFV Executive Director, Jeanne Yeager, recognized the obstacles that victims face when trying to rebuild their lives and decided to begin efforts towards eliminating some of these barriers. Ms. Yeager applied for grant funding through the United States Department of Justice's Office on Violence Against Women to support a program designed to assist victims in transition.
In September of 2005, MSCFV was notified that it received this federal funding to operate a holistic, victim-centered program to assist transitional victims of domestic violence. MSCFV was the only recipient of this grant in the State of Maryland.
In October 2005, Ms. Yeager began the process of hiring an individual to serve as Transitional Service Coordinator to implement the goals and philosophy of the program. Jody Kennedy, a former Client/Legal Advocate with MSCFV, was promoted and began working in the capacity of Transitional Services Coordinator in November of 2005.
In the short time since the Transitional Program began, several clients have benefited from this unique program and the emotional support and wide range of services it provides.
