Our

History

Mid-Shore Council on Family Violence (MSCFV) is a regional Domestic Violence program which has provided comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence from Maryland's Mid-Shore - Kent, Caroline, Talbot, Dorchester and Queen Anne’s Counties - since 1980. The original mission of MSCFV was to help victims of Domestic Violence obtain safety by providing a 24-hour hotline, shelter bed nights, Legal Services and other resources to help with immediate needs.

In 2002, MSCFV expanded its service model to view crisis as the beginning of the journey and building on that to be more victim-centered and holistic. Today MSCFV utilizes the Chesapeake Crisis to Self-Sufficiency Model (CCSSM)™ that focuses on moving clients from crisis to transitional services. Our goal is for each survivor to build a life free from violence where he/she and his/her family can thrive.  The Case Manager will walk with the client until she or he reaches self-sufficiency, clearly communicating the path from “Where you were…Where you are…Where you are going”.

Also in 2002, MSCFV implemented an outcomes measurement system to provide feedback on the changes victims and abusers achieve in their time with the agency. Outcomes refer to the difference you are making in people’s lives. Measuring outcomes enables us, as an agency to continuously review how we are doing and what we can do better to serve rural victims of domestic violence.
